Following UNiTE’s the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence campaign, we highlight women-lawyers and human rights defenders who work to end violence against women and girls around the word.
Oleksandra Hrynkiv, PhD, is a lawyer and human rights activist from Ternopil, Ukraine. Oleksandra is the Head of the NGO "Information Legal Center" Human Rights". Іn 2015, Oleksandra’s NGO started the project "Supporting victims of violence in families" a project that was supported by the OSCE ODIHR and was helping the victims of domestic violence in the Ternopil region. Oleksandra works with local authorities on making sure that the laws to combat domestic violence are being implemented in practice and the recommendations of international organizations are being implemented. Oleksandra also works to raise public awareness about dangers of domestic violence by conducting educational events for young residents of Ternopil region.
